Dr. Fingert is an Associate Professor of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at the University of Iowa. He graduated from medical school at the Caver College of Medicine at the University of Iowa and earned a doctorate degree in Genetics as part of the NIH Medical Scientist Training Program. Dr. Fingert also completed his ophthalmology residency, glaucoma fellowship, and molecular ophthalmology fellowship at the University of Iowa. Dr. Fingert has a glaucoma clinic at the University of Iowa and a laboratory where he studies the molecular genetic causes of glaucoma and other inherited eye diseases. He is a board certified ophthalmologist, a fellow of the Heed Ophthalmic Society, and a member of several professional organizations including the American Academy of Ophthalmology and Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology. Dr. Fingert has received awards for his research including the P.J. Leinfelder Award and the Lewis Rudin Glaucoma Prize.
