James C. Tsai, MD
New Haven, Connecticut
A graduate of Amherst College and MD alumnus of the Stanford University School of Medicine, Dr. Tsai completed his residency in ophthalmology at the Doheny Eye Institute at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles and glaucoma fellowships at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute at the University of Miami and at Moorfields Eye Hospital and the Institute of Ophthalmology in London. He also received a master’s degree in business administration from the Owen Graduate School of Management at Vanderbilt University.
Dr. Tsai has written a wide range of scientific articles, abstracts, and book chapters on glaucoma and has authored three editions of the textbook, “Medical Management of Glaucoma.”He sits on the editorial board of five medical publications.
Dr. Tsai is the recipient of numerous awards, including a Visionary Award from Fight for Sight and a Senior Achievement Award from the AAO. He currently serves on the National Eye Health Education Program Planning Committee of NIH (NEHEP), on the Medicare Evidence Development Coverage Advisory Committee (MedCAC) of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), and as Examiner for the American Board of Ophthalmology. He also serves on the Executive Committee / Board of Directors of the American Glaucoma Society (AGS) as the AGS Councilor to the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO). He was recently appointed Chair of the Strategic Planning Committee of Yale Medical Group’s Board of Governors.
