SUMMARY:TGF Glaucoma Symposium 2026 How We Take Care of People: Latest and Greatest Clinically Relevant Innovations
DESCRIPTION:Session 1 \nSurgical Innovations in Glaucoma\nGus De Moraes\, Moderator \nThis course will provide an in-depth exploration of the latest advances in glaucoma surgery. Recent developments in minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS) will be discussed along with the expanding range of implant designs\, their mechanisms of action\, and surgical indications. This course will also explore best practices for co-managing glaucoma surgical patients\, from pre-operative assessment to long-term post-operative care. How ophthalmologists and optometrists can work together to select appropriate candidates\, optimize pre-surgical management\, and monitor outcomes after traditional\, MIGS\, and other glaucoma procedures will be discussed. \nFACULTY\nArsham Sheybani\, MD & Mitch Ibach\, OD\, FAAO – Trabecular outflow options \nArsham Sheybani\, MD – New MIGS developments – When do we go with stand-alone? \nPoonam Misra\, MD – New surgical developments \nPoonam Misra\, MD and Mitch Ibach\, OD\, FAAO- How do we comanage MIGS? \n \nSession 2 \nWhat’s new in glaucoma diagnosis?\nAlon Harris\, Moderator \nThis course examines the concept of personalized glaucoma care with the introduction of genetic testing and the use of artificial intelligence to better understand which individuals may be at increased risk of developing glaucoma or getting worse. This course will also explore how home-based intraocular pressure (IOP) monitoring technologies are reshaping glaucoma detection and management. Available and emerging devices\, their accuracy\, and clinical applications for capturing IOP fluctuations outside the clinic will be reviewed. Finally\, the complex relationship between myopia and glaucoma will be discussed\, with an emphasis on diagnostic challenges and management strategies. Participants will explore how myopic structural changes may mimic glaucomatous damage\, and how axial length and optic disc morphology influence risk assessment. Current evidence on the increased glaucoma risk in myopic patients will be reviewed\, with approaches to differentiate true disease from myopia-related artifacts discussed. \nFACULTY \nMichael Chaglasian\, OD – Remote tonometry and its impact on glaucoma diagnosis and management \nC. Gustavo De Moraes\, MD\, PhD\, MPH – Is it glaucoma\, or myopia\, or both? \nLouis R. Pasquale\, MD\, FARVO – Has personalized medical care for glaucoma arrived? \n \nSession 3 \nWhat’s new in glaucoma therapy?\nLouis R. Pasquale\, MD\, FARVO\, Moderator \nThis course explores the current state of neuroprotection research and its potential to transform disease management beyond intraocular pressure control. The scientific rationale for neuroprotection\, key clinical trial findings\, and emerging therapeutic targets aimed at preserving retinal ganglion cells and optic nerve function will be discussed. Glaucoma clinical trials will be discussed and how they influence our care. Also\, the evolution of glaucoma therapy will be discussed including the role laser and medical therapy plays. New information on laser technology for glaucoma therapy will be described as well as the current role for medical and non-medical therapeutic devices. And finally\, how the future of glaucoma care is evolving and how recent innovations may improve how we take care of people. \nFACULTY \nThomas V. Johnson\, MD\, PhD – How close are we to neuroprotection? \nTony Realini\, MD – Evidence-based glaucoma care: Lessons from clinical trials \nAlex A. Huang\, MD\, PhD – New advances in non-medical and medical therapy for glaucoma

SUMMARY:Webinar - Topic Advances in Glaucoma Clinical Trial Research
DESCRIPTION:Dr. Jeffrey Goldberg talks about advances from the laboratory shedding new light on the pathophysiology of glaucoma and generating novel approaches to neuroprotection and vision restoration. He will then cover advances in the clinical trials being done with glaucoma patients\, at Stanford and elsewhere\, that are beginning to show positive signals of vision protection and enhancement in patients.

SUMMARY:Webinar: Low Vision Care and Glaucoma: From the Exam to Everyday Solutions
DESCRIPTION:Dr. Chun has been a low vision specialist and clinician educator since 2012. In his clinical practice\, Dr. Chun cares for patients with varying degrees of permanent vision loss\, ranging from partial sight to total blindness\, including individuals with glaucoma\, inherited retinal diseases\, and other conditions that cause significant vision impairment. His clinical work focuses on helping patients maximize their remaining vision and maintain independence in their daily lives.\n\nDr. Chun is also actively involved in clinical research and has served as an investigator and collaborator on National Eye Institute–funded studies involving low vision technologies. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and also works internationally with visually impaired athletes through his role as a Vision Impairment Classifier for the International Paralympic Committee.

SUMMARY:Webinar - Medication Burden & Sustained Drug Delivery: What Does it Mean for Every Patient?
DESCRIPTION:Please join us at 5pm (eastern time) on Tuesday\, November 24th for a talk on sustained drug delivery with by Dr. Poonam Misra. \nGlaucoma medication burden refers to the physical\, psychological\, and economic demands of the daily regimens required to control eye pressure\, which can impact adherence\, quality of life\, and healthcare costs. \nSustained medication delivery — also called sustained-release\, extended-release\, or controlled-release drug delivery — is a technology designed to release a drug gradually over time\, maintaining steady blood levels and reducing the need for frequent dosing. \nREGISTER HERE \nDr. Poonam Misra is a glaucoma specialist at Manhattan Eye\, Ear\, Throat Hospital of Northwell Health\, where she is also the Co-Director of the Glaucoma Fellowship. She completed her glaucoma fellowship at Columbia University Medical Center in 2019 after residency at Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Misra received her BS with a major in biology and minor in philosophy from the Boston College\, College of Art & Sciences Honors Program\, in 2010\, and medical degree from Rutgers New Jersey Medical School in 2014. \n\n\n\n\nDr. Misra was previously in the NYU Department of Ophthalmology as a full-time member of the Faculty Group Practice\, as well as resident educator and Associate Chief of Ophthalmology at Bellevue Hospital from 2020-2024. In her clinical practice she focuses on adult glaucoma\, comprehensive ophthalmology and cataract surgery. \nShe is a member of the American Glaucoma Society\, American Academy of Ophthalmology\, and Women in Ophthalmology. She has a particular interest in teaching medical students\, residents and fellows. Dr. Misra also volunteers as an examiner for the American Board of Ophthalmology. \n\n\n\nThis webinar is sponsored by Glaukos\, Advancing the Treatment of Ophthalmic Diseases
