Dear Readers,

I’m writing you only a few weeks after the grand occasion of TGF’s 41st anniversary Gala. It was a wonderful evening, when over 200 friends came together to celebrate the Foundation’s remarkable achievements and to honor the recipients of the evening’s prestigious awards. I’m delighted to tell you that $425,000 was raised in support of our ongoing vital work.

This is an especially busy season for the Foundation, with planning for TGF’s 29th Annual Scientific Think Tank, our signature event, on TGF’s front burner. Scheduled for June 20th and 21st, the Think Tank is the premier forum for the exchange of ideas among leading scientists in diverse fields to bring their knowledge to the challenges of glaucoma. Over the years, this interdisciplinary gathering has significantly increased the number of people around the world working in the field, while helping to set the course for future glaucoma research. This year’s theme is “The Future of Glaucoma: Harnessing Data, AI, and Precision Medicine for Patient-Centered Care.”

We’ll report more about the Think Tank in the next newsletter issue. We’ll also be announcing TGF’s fifth Art Challenge – our successful program that celebrates visual art and raises funds for sight-saving research.

In other news, we are happy to welcome Mitch Hill as the newest TGF Board member.  Mitch recently retired as Chief Financial Officer for Inari Medical, Inc., a California-based medical device company with a mission to treat patients suffering from venous thromboembolism and other diseases. He is a glaucoma patient himself, and a vocal advocate for awareness.

As I wish you a good spring season, I again want to express our thanks to you, our friends, for your ongoing support of all that we do.  We are most grateful!

Thank you,

Elena Sturman
