Jai G. Parekh, MD, MBA is a board-certified anterior segment surgeon in the NJ/NY area. He was recruited in 2015 to join Allergan plc in the capacity of Vice-President, Eye Care and Global Head/Medical Affairs and headed up Dermatology Global Head/Medical Affairs.

Jai Parekh maintains a part-time boutique practice, focusing on cornea, cataract and glaucoma at the newly named EyeCare Consultants of NJ, a 45-year old comprehensive ophthalmology practice in Northern NJ, as well as Chief of Cornea & External Diseases & Medical Director of the Research Institute at St. Joseph’s HealthCare System.

Dr. Parekh is founder of the Center for Ocular Surface Excellence of New Jersey (COSE-NJ). He is also an active Clinical Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at the Icahn School of Medicine of Mt. Sinai, NY, and on the Cornea Service at the New York Eye & Ear Infirmary of Mt. Sinai where he did his fellowship. He completed medical school at the Boston University School of Medicine Early Acceptance Program and remained in Boston to fully train in Internal Medicine and Ophthalmology where he was Chief Resident in both specialties.

Dr. Parekh co-founded and was chosen to be on the Board of Directors for the Society of Academic Medicine, the Vanguard Ophthalmic Society, the American-European College of Ophthalmic Surgery, & CEDARS-ASPENS Alliance; he has served on the Editorial Board of Cataract & Refractive Surgery Today.

Dr. Parekh’s interests include the ocular surface, complex cataract surgery and innovation, drug delivery, practice/disease management, integrated eyecare, business development, strategy, entrepreneurship, and medical philanthropy; he earned an MBA with a concentration in HealthCare Sector Management at the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University. He has served in many roles prior to his current role at Allergan plc, including key opinion leadership for many healthcare companies, CMO/EVP of 1-800-DOCTORS, COO/President of EyeTrans Technologies, and Chief Clinical Integration Officer/VP for OcuHub. DrJ is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, ASCRS, the Cornea Society, & ARVO.

He resides in NJ with his wife of 25 years and 3 children.
