A Message from TGF’s President & CEO, Elena Sturman
Glaucoma is a disease that affects different ethnic groups in different ways. People of African descent develop the disease at about four times the rate of people of European ancestry. While we understand there are biological reasons for these disparities, we recognize that our well-being is profoundly impacted by our economic health, our access to services, our level of stress.
We recognize that each person’s experience is unique.
We support better access to diagnosis and treatment.
We laud the many physicians who are practicing patient-centric care that is respectful of and responsive to individual patient preferences, needs and values.
We stand in solidarity with Black communities and with all our constituencies seeking equality and justice.
