Dear Friends,
As the fall season approaches, we are busy planning our educational programming for the months ahead, aimed both at our growing interested public and the glaucoma community.
Looking back only a few weeks, I am especially pleased to share with you a fact about our most recent webinar, presented in August by Dr. Jeffrey Goldberg, MD, PhD of Stanford University. “Advances in Glaucoma Clinical Trial Research” was record-breaking in terms of both the hundreds of people who registered and 1000 others who viewed the presentation after it first aired. We are pleased to announce here that glaucoma luminary and friend of the Foundation, Dr. Thomas V. Johnson, MD, PhD, who has presented several webinars on the promises of optic nerve regeneration, was recently named chief of the Glaucoma Division at the Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins!
There’s more news about research in this issue, specifically the announcement of seven new TGF research grantees and the projects they are pursuing for the next year.
All this research news is encouraging and requires the support of many. We are mindful of all the notable support our growing circle of friends has provided in recent years and I am delighted to introduce the newest member of our staff, Deana Cynar, who has just joined TGF as Major Gift Officer.
